Relief is usually cut in wood, lino or other softer materials. I do linocut, as long as I have proper tools. Unsharpened tools is dangerous and is not very tempting. A cut gives a defining expression. A linoplate is made of soluble materials and it is great to treat with lye. And then there are no definite expression anymore.
